More about me...

Yesterday was nice. Lots of little tasks at work, nothing major but enough to help the time really fly by. I worked from home so that was nice. After work I went golfing. I am a very avid golfer. My handicap is around the 13-14 area. My dad introduced me to the game. I always loved playing with him when I visited. He passed almost 6 years ago now and I really miss our rounds together.

Yesterday wasn't bad at all. I am still struggling off the tee but once I am away I am good. I shot 82 for 18 holes which for me is good. I had 10 birdie putts so I was finding the green nicely. Unfortunately I didn't make any of those putts. Most of them were 30+ feet long so not really makeable. My approach shots were crisp and well hit. They were just a fraction off center of the clubface so it caused a push or pull. Most greens I found in regulation but I was on the exact opposite side from the flag.

I'm enjoying my progress though. And I enjoy being outside for a few hours. I accidentally forgot my phone at home yesterday and I am surprised at how peaceful it was playing without that distraction. I'm going again after work today. The weather today and tomorrow looks great so I am going to take advantage of it. We are expecting a lot of rain and storms this weekend so won't be able to play then.

It's 4th of July weekend so I am off Monday as well. I enjoy working summer hours at my job. There are a lot fewer alerts we have to investigate which means I am sleeping better at night even when I am on call.

I might leave work early today. Our office is located in a suite with other offices. I'm about to walk around a bit but from what I saw when I walked in I am the only door open today. If it still looks that way then I am leaving early if it stays quiet (which it should).

It's almost Friday!

Technically today IS my Friday since we don't have work on Fridays during our summer schedule. And it has been very nice and quiet at work today. A few quick alerts to investigate but that is it. I've got 1 quick call coming up that I don't have to do anything in but listen. I've taken advantage of the quiet and gotten a lot of HTML learning done. On my work in the office days I am teaching myself HTML and CSS. I'm hoping to get proficient enough to build some real web pages we can use as our phishing exercise emails. I'm building a small practice page as I go through the book to get the hands on feeling of it.  The only problem is I am the complete opposite of an artistic person. I have absolutely no artistic ability whatsoever. I can see something in my mind but have less than 0 skills to bring that image to life. If someone told me what to do I could do it very easily. I'm baaaaaack....

  This time I know it's been more than a week. I attended a CISSP certification bootcamp class last week. LOTS of information overload but a lot of good security information. I've scheduled my certification exam for 17 Sept so hopefully that's enough study time. I am making flashcards which is helping. I've also got a practice question app and website I will use to take practice questions when I have free time. It was nice to get away from work for the week. Class days were long, about 10 hours each, but it was fun to be back in a learning environment. AND work paid for it so that is a double win! Can't believe most of the others in class with me had to pay for their trips by themselves. I only had to pay for lodging and food. Travel was easy since the class was only about 75 miles from home. Fall is here!

Fall is officially upon us. I just went for a walk around campus and it was nice and cool. And quiet too since students are off today for their fall break. Classes resume tomorrow so the lively atmosphere will be back shortly. I am thoroughly enjoying the cooling weather. Jeans/Sweatshirt weather is my absolute favorite. Unfortunately it never stays for too long as it always seems to get winter cold much faster every year. Everything is about the same. Work is work. Golf season is over. My wife's niece that has been staying with us for a while is moving out tomorrow morning. She is  heading back to FL to live with an ex boyfriend and 2 other friends. She is leaving first thing in the morning and should get to FL sometime Thurs afternoon. This means we get our basement area back and with it our 2nd bathroom!!! I had no problems with her staying with us and she knows she could stay for as long as she wants but it will be nice to get our entire house back. I plan on moving...
